  • Chinook Blast 2021

  • When: Feb 11-28, 2021 (Fri-Sun 3pm-9pm)
  • Where: all around downtown YYC
  • Cost: FREE
  • TL;DR: Local artists are illuminating our winter weekend nights in the Chinook Blast Hub, an outdoor art park, as well as a number of partner sites around downtown Calgary.

  • Chinook Blast 2021 will only include safe, socially distant displays that celebrate winter in Calgary and fall in line with COVID-19 Safety Protocols.

  • YYC Hot Chocolate Fest

  • When: Feb 1-28, 2021
  • Where: Various Participating Restaurants
  • Cost: Varies
  • OK, it's not warm enough for patio drinks yet, but keep warm throughout the month of February with participating cafes and restaurants featuring signature hot chocolate drinks created especially for this friendly competition. Proceeds from each drink will benefit Calgary Meals on Wheels, and customer online votes will decide which vendor will win the coveted title of Calgary’s “Best Hot Chocolate.” There’s a spirited category too!
  • $1 (non-spirited) – $2 (spirited) from every cup sold supports Calgary Meals on Wheels, thereby directly providing nutritious meals to Calgarians.

  • Curling on St. Patrick's Island

  • When: Now until end of March, 2021 (9am-7pm)
  • Where: St. Patrick Island, Calgary ( near the island washrooms and Calgary Zoo parking lot.)
  • Cost: FREE
  • Try your hand at one of Canada’s most beloved winter sports! Playing outside this winter on the synthetic curling sheet on St. Patrick’s Island.

  • Chinatown Ice Sculpture Showcase

  • When: Feb 12-28, 2021
  • Where: 5 locations along 2 Avenue & 3 Avenue SE and Centre Street & 4 Avenue SE
  • Cost: FREE
  • In celebration of the Lunar Year 4719, the Year of the Ox, the Chinatown Business Improvement Area (BIA) is placing five life size ‘Ox’ ice sculptures throughout Chinatown. Each of the sculptures are distinctly colored to harmonize with Calgary and Chinatown’s culture – the Chinese New Year tradition, Calgary’s diversity, community safety, compassion and love, and youth. Come to shop and dine in Chinatown – A Clean and Safe, a Must Visit Destination, and a Great Visitor Experience.

  • Kensington Love, a series of outdoor winter activations during the month of February. Find fire pits on the Kensington Plaza from 12 Noon – 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Find an art activation set up alongside the fire pits where you can take selfies for social media
